Weights and Measures Department

Welcome to the Lake County Weights & Measures Department

The Lake County Weights & Measures Department is dedicated to protecting consumers and supporting fair commerce by ensuring accuracy in all commercial transactions involving weighing and measuring devices. Our mission is to promote confidence in the marketplace by verifying that goods, services, and packaged commodities are sold using legal and accurate methods as required by Indiana law and the National Conference on Weights and Measures Handbooks 44 and 130.

We conduct annual inspections of commercial devices, enforce state and county regulations, and work to maintain a fair and transparent environment for both businesses and consumers. Through consistent oversight and compliance efforts, we help preserve the integrity of trade throughout Lake County.
